History of Multi-disciplinary Symposium
of Canadian Chinese Professors

 

 

The Multi-disciplinary Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors originated from the Multiple Disciplinary Academic Symposium held at West Heaven Golf & Country Club in London on November 25, 2007. The symposium, organized by Professors Jie Xu, Qingping Feng, and Jesse Zhu of the UWO Chinese Professors Association, was marked by 16 presentations and attended by approximately 100 UWO professors and family members



The second symposium, officially re-titled as Multi-disciplinary Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors, took place at Mountain Springs Resort and Conference Centre, Collingwood from June 29 to July 1, 2008. Fourteen presentations were delivered by professors from McMaster, Ryerson, UWO, and Wilfrid Laurier, and more than 30 registered participants attended the symposium, which was organized by UWO Professors Qingping Feng, Yining Huang, Jie Xu and Jesse Zhu. This was the first time the symposium became a province-wide academic gathering. 



The Third Multi-disciplinary Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors, organized by Professors Yining Huang, Donglin Bai, and Jesse Zhu, was held at Sheraton Fallsview Hotel & Conference Centre, together with the First Global Forum for Chinese Chemical Engineers. A total of 15 presentations, both invited and contributed talks, were delivered by professors from nine Ontario universities: Brock, McMaster, Queen’s, Ryerson, Toronto, UWO, Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier, and Windsor. 

 

 

The fourth multi-disciplinary symposium, co-chaired by Prof. En-hui Yang of the University of Waterloo and Prof. Donglin Bai of the UWO, was held at Kellerman’ Resort, Parry Sound from July 1-3, 2010. More than 40 professors participated in the three-day event which consisted of 18 presentations by faculty members from eight Ontario Universities: Brock, McMaster, Guelph, Toronto, UWO, Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier, and York. For the first time, the province-wide academic gathering was jointly organized by two Ontario universities.


The 5th Multi-Disciplinary Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors was organized jointly by the Chinese Professors of the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario, and follows the heel of four successful symposia held in 2007-2010. The aim of this symposium is to provide a forum for Chinese faculty members at Ontario universities in all disciplines to learn the state-of-the-art development in different disciplines, exchange ideas in research, research transformation, and highly qualified personnel training, and explore the possibility of new research collaboration.

 

The 6th Multi-Disciplinary Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors was organized jointly by the Chinese Professors of the University of Ottawa and the University of Western Ontario. The conference was held at tawa from June 29 to July 2, 2012. Over 50 participants from 23 academic institutions and other organizations participated in the conference and made the conference an academically rewarding experience and a fun-filled social gathering.


The 7th Multi-Disciplinary Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors was organized jointly by the Chinese Professors of the University of Toronto and the University of Western Ontario, and follows the heel of six successful symposia held in 2007-2013. The aim of this symposium is to provide a forum for Chinese faculty members at Ontario universities in all disciplines, including art, philosophy, archeology, medical science, natural science, social science, etc., to network, learn the state-of-the-art development in different disciplines, exchange ideas in research, research transformation, and highly qualified personnel training, and explore the possibility of new research collaboration.

 

8th Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors was organized jointly by the Chinese Professors of the Brock University and the University of Western Ontario. More than 62 participants from more than 25 universities and government offices were registered in the symposium, and 25 attendees were from Western.

The talks covered a wide range of topics, such as medical research,  energy resources as well as social, cultural, musical and educational sciences.

Apart from the academic aspects, beautiful sceneries around the Niagara-on-the-lake, the biggest outlet mall in Canada, the best wineries in Canada and the very testy foods impressed the participants and their families.

 

The 9th Multi-Disciplinary Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors was organized jointly by the Chinese Professors of the University of Queen University and the University of Western Ontario, and follows the heel of eight successful symposia held from 2007 to 2014. In this symposium, 43 professors, researchers and officers from 23 universities and China Embassy. The aim of this symposium is to provide a forum for Chinese faculty members at Canada universities in all disciplines, including art, philosophy, archeology, medical science, natural science, social science, etc., to network, learn the state-of-the-art development in different disciplines, exchange ideas in research, research transformation, and highly qualified personnel training, and explore the possibility of new research collaboration.

 

10th Symposium of Canadian Chinese Professors was organized jointly by the Chinese Professors of the University of Calgary, Dalhousie and the University of Western Ontario. More than 40 participants from more than 17 universities and government offices were registered in the symposium.

The talks covered a wide range of topics, such as medical research,  energy resources as well as social, cultural, musical and educational sciences.

Apart from the academic aspects, beautiful sceneries around the Niagara-on-the-lake, the biggest outlet mall in Canada, the best wineries in Canada and the very testy foods impressed the participants and their families.
